Job Description
This is a 24x7x365 service-oriented, technically driven Operational position. The qualified candidate will work closely with the LAN Administrators in troubleshooting server problems. In this position you will be responsible for monitoring, pinging, testing, rebooting, performing anti virus updates, and backing up the servers. This position also requires attention to detail and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions issued by Management and the LAN Administrators. Document all changes/issues/problems related to maintaining the servers.
The qualified candidate must be able to work shift work and have the ability to work in a fast pace environment.
The qualified candidate will interface with other ESOC staff, other Department of State facilities personnel, as well as various contractors to perform these tasks.

Communication skills
Knowledge of the IT servers
Ability to interact with technical and non-technical team members
Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate their ability to manage customer service by describing challenging situations and how they approach in solving them. They should also be prepared to describe process-oriented customer-service environments in which they played a central role. Candidates should be able to relate data analysis and reporting experiences.
Candidates should be able to assist upper management with suggestions for problem/resolutions.
Required Skills/ Experience
Primary:
Ability to support a 24x7x365 work environmental; shift work
Windows 2000/XP
Good communication skills( both oral and written)
Customer service background
Personable attitude
Knowledge of server monitoring and testing
The ability to interface with all staff
Knowledge on how to reboot a server
Knowledge of standard and non standard operating rules, procedures and diagnostic techniques to resolve difficult operating problems
Secondary:
Knowledge of performing server backups
Security Clearance Top Secret Required
Interim Secret sufficient to begin work
Job Responsibilities
Monitor servers to ensure they are up and running.
Manually test web sites through CEIS
Ping and test web sites
Open an outage if a web site is not responding and escalate to level 2 LAN Administrators
Perform reboots on physical and virtual servers
Perform daily backups on the DMZ servers
Updating the shift summary
Communicate with LAN Administrators and customers
Open/Close data centers
Walk data centers to make sure all environmental resources are stable
